This exhibition is dedicated to our class mate and dear friend, Thomas Coley Beaumont studying through the University Of Canberra Bachelor Of Visual Arts.
Tom passed away on the 25thAugust 2015, he left a huge imprint in many people’s lives through his resilience living with many illnesses without one word of complaint. Tom never mentioned to his friends or fellow students what he was physically and emotionally going through, he just wanted to do art and be treated normally like everyone else which we did. Tom’s genre was, “The Circle”, the circle symbolises life and something I think we ALL take for granted.
In this exhibition we dedicate a re-enactment of Tom’s performance piece, “BANG #BIGBANG #EXPLOSION #SMASH”.
Tom’s original footage will be projected in his space at Jugglers. This will be performed by one his family at some stage not know as yet, it will be the smashing of a ceramic sphere filled with black powder pigment, leaving an effect that expresses Tom’s energy in his original idea.
In celebration of his contribution to the arts, homeless people, RSPCA, Leukaemia research and many more activities Tom was passionately involved with, Tom’s family will be setting up a donation box for one of Tom’s Charites at this exhibition. We know Tom would have wanted this to be part of his exhibition.
The other students involved in this exhibition are just a small portion of the students who loved Tom; these include Meana Taee, Francesca Travers, Sandy Eyles and Tracy Beadnell.
We will be sharing the space displaying some of our work side by side with Tom.
We welcome everyone who knew Thomas to come and enjoy the art we made side by side through the year 2015. “Eternity”, symbolises the love we will always have for our mate Tom, he will be in our hearts for eternity. Completing the second year together through the University Of Canberra Bachelor Of Visual Arts, though South Bank TAFE Queensland, from all the students and staff we dedicate this exhibition to you Thomas Coley Beaumont. Feel free to come along to enjoy and celebrate with us Tom’s unique Art and life.
