A/V Film Festival + Loovre Opening Night

  • Jugglers Art Space Inc. (map)

AV is a short film and video art festival that will showcase works from local artists.

AV is an all ages event so join us from 7pm for popcorn, baked goods and drinks.
Entry is $5 at the door.

The films will start rolling from 7:30pm and after all the works have been exhibited there will be a public vote to choose the winner. The top 3 will get to have their works screened at Dendy’s Portside cinema!

Alongside the film festival we will be launching The Loovre which is our newest exhibition space as well as our toilet! The first artist to be christening the space is Carrie Toumsook.

Known for her frightening drawing style and disturbing, ironic or ambiguous text, Toumsook's subject matter is sometimes violent and anti-authoritarian.

Toumsook works primarily with India ink on paper and many of her early drawings are black and white, although she sometimes introduces colour through the use of posca pens or watercolour. Toumsook's works on paper often consist of the drawn image paired with snippets of text, borrowed from literature or written by Toumsook herself.

Toumsook has stated that her interest in uncensored contents and themes is a result of the influence of artists such as Ralph Steadman and Aubrey Beardlsley.
