Transition brings together the works of Justin Garnsworthy, Cherylynne Bullen and Birgit Kehr - working across an eclectic selection of media from Blu-tak to photography.
Justin Garnsworthy incorporates office materials with technology to create works that disrupt notions of detachment in an over-saturated material culture. He explores the elasticity and threshold of Blu-tack and its compression, questioning the medium, its limitations and its possibilities.
Cherylynne Bullen captures personal or family memories in delightful originality. Drawing upon the unusual and unexpected, she uses the photographic form to recontextualises everyday objects and surroundings.
Birgit Kehr has been photographing Australia ever since migrating to the country in 1992. Mesmerised by the beauty of the Australian landscape, she considers art as a way to open doors into an unknown world; a world to be explored and discovered, and which reflects the pulsation of an aeonian peace within the ephemerality of life.
Exhibition runs from 25/02/16 - 02/03/16.
Please note that the last event at 103 Brunswick Street was on May 22, 2018. That building is now sold and operated by YMCA Brisbane.
