Teagan Ramsay is a Brisbane based artist practicing independently across a range of mediums including sculpture, performance, installation, video and sound. Her practice currently interchanges between playfully cross-examining her personal narrative of sexuality and interest in fetishes against the cultural produced narrative of women’s desire and cultural stigma raised in taboo fetishes. On the other end of the spectrum, she communicates a portion of her own history through associations of objects and spaces. Using traditional cinematic codes and pairing them with low and high frequency sounds she intends to create an emotive atmospheric relationship between relatable imagery and artificial sound. Her most current body of work investigates how these cinematic forms can document, reflect and shape human experiences. Most specifically communicating her history through various locations and objects associated with mundane activity and Australian residential architecture.
Teagan Ramsay has exhibited in a number of group shows nationally and intends to further progress her practice to create a complex dialogue between her own personal narratives associated with objects, places and sexual practices.
