Jugglers 2010 Exhibition program opens with our annual Artists in Residence
February showcase and this year welcomes 4 new artists to contribute to the wide
variety of already residing artists.

Jugglers Art Space Studio Program is now accommodating a diverse group of artists working within a broad range of media including painting, jewelry, soft sculpture, drawing, digital media, sculpture and more.
Artist Bios
Sam Eyles has been an artist in residence at Jugglers for the past four years. Originally from Toowoomba Sam moved to Brisbane on completing his Bachelor of Visual Arts at USQ in 2000. Sam’s abstract expressionist style involves the layering of lists, prayers and reflections beneath a reinvented surface to create slim, sinewy windows of colour and text. He serves up his third solo show for Jugglers in May 2010.
Nic Plowman also originally from Toowoomba and also having graduated from USQ, shared a studio with Sam before also moving to Brisbane and taking advantage of the Jugglers Art Space Studio Program. Nic has been an Artist in Residence at Jugglers for three years. Nic Is now represented by Anthea Polson Gallery and continues to challenge the boundaries of traditional painting and figurative representation. His work is intrinsically personal, drawing on his own experience and representations of the world around him.
Sue-Ching Lascelles is a Brisbane-based soft sculpture artist specialising in the creation of everyday objects from felt. Her collections of soft sculptures are inspired by a playful, childlike vision of the world around us, rejecting so-called ‘grown-up’ forms of aesthetic naturalism. Sue-Ching has been a Jugglers artist in residence for almost two years. Plowman and Lascelles come together in July for an exhibition of their latest works.
Megan Cope is a young indigenous artist; environment, mapping and decolonizing methodologies are a primary aspect of her practice. Megan joins the Artist in Residence program this year having been developing her practice in Queensland for over 5 years. She is a descendant from the Quandamooka region (North Stradbroke Island). Megan has exhibited her works in the Koori Heritage Trust in Melbourne, Craft Queensland (Artisan) & Queensland Art Gallery in Brisbane. She unveils her first Jugglers solo show in October.
Abigael Whittaker has enjoyed the success of two solo shows last year. The first at 19karen Contemporary, and the latter at Jugglers late in 2009. Since graduating from QUT with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2005 Abigael has exhibited her work in many group shows and notes her residency at Jugglers as the beginnings of her focused art practice. Abigael’s work portrays a strong illustrative quality combined with elements of collage, painting and textile based details.
Kristy Morgan is a jewelery designer who interprets dismembered animal bodies using mostly recycled materials to create her unique pieces.
Kristy is interested particularly in the anatomies of birds and feathers reinterpreting the forms and shapes with metal, leather and precious stones. Her work is both stocked in boutiques and exhibited in galleries across Australia. She joins the artist in residence program this year.
Terry Summers also joins us this year as an artist in residence, having exhibited in countless group shows, solo exhibitions and public art projects. Terry is well known for his work utilizing waste cardboard creating diverse sculptural works which portray themes of humour, social comment and artistic dialogue.
Shevaun Wright is a self-taught artist who lives and works in Brisbane. Her works are primarily concerned with exploring the texture and forms of both human and animal skulls and skeletons in mixed media. She joined Jugglers as an artist in residence in late 2009.
Kate Geck is a multimedia artist working across animation, installation and soft sculpture. She has recently completed honours in Fine Art at QUT researching character based interfaces within interactive total installation. Kate has been an artist in residence for almost two years.
Amanda Ceccato is a Brisbane based artist about to embark on a London adventure. She has been an artist in residence for 18 months. Amanda recently graduated from QCA with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and is still enjoying the success of her solo show Tiny Clouds with Little Hands which aired at Jugglers mid last year.
Peter Breen is a Brisbane based artist who has only begun to take his arts practice seriously in the last 2-3 years. His involvement at Jugglers has largely been in vision casting, leadership and administration. He birthed Jugglers with two of his sons [Harley and Randal] and Phil Lock over 10 years ago. He is also involved in public murals, artist development, guided art work meditations and producing x-ray images.
